Playwriting Every Day in November Day 3

Day 3 Challenge:
Start With A Title: Ghost at the Back of Your Closet

MARCIA
Wait, what’s this?

FIONA
What is what?

MARCIA
(holds up a pill case)
What is this? Why does it have my name on it?

FIONA
Oh. Um, I’m not sure grandma. Where did you find them? Is it possible that it’s from one of the trips you made to keep your… vitamins, organized.

MARCIA
(very serious)
Fiona.

FIONA
Yes, grandma?

MARCIA
I know when you are lying to me.

FIONA
Grandma…

MARCIA
You promised me you would always tell me the truth.

FIONA
I know.

MARCIA
And I promised I would never get angry with you if you did.

FIONA
I know, grandma…

MARCIA
So tell me what these are and why do they have my name on them.

FIONA
I, I can’t tell you. I wish I could, really.

MARCIA
Fee…

FIONA
Grandma… It’s not something you want to know anyway. Just put them back where you found them and come play cribbage with me.

MARCIA
I’m sorry. I feel tired all the sudden.

FIONA
Oh, can I something for you! Tea? Do you need an extra blanket on your bed?

MARCIA
No, no. What has gotten into you! I can take care of myself.
(MARCIA leaves to go to the bedroom. FIONA takes the the pill case and puts it back in the back of the cabinet, closes the cabinet, pauses, opens the cabinet and hides the pill case somewhere else - somewhere she hopes MARCIA will not find them)

FIONA
(with a whisper)
Sorry, grandma.
