Playwriting Every Day in November Day 7

Challenge: Treat Yourself

Because the challenge is “Treat Yourself” I am going to write something outside of my Fiona/Marcia self-imposed rule. :)

SCENE 1

Lights up in the forest. We hear and see the life of the forest undisturbed for a few moments. Then Aralon, a bard, stumbles out of the trees. She looks around. She is alone. Afraid, but not going to admit it. As she gains her bearings, she swings her lute around and begins to strum, getting more confident with each note.

ARLON
(singing)
You are on an adventure
To determine your destiny
You are chasing glory
Finding out what you will be

It’s hard to feel like the hero of your own story
When life is decided by a twenty sided die
But just like my brother, mother, and father before me
I’m going to try.

You’ve mastered multiple languages
You’ve got your lute and lyre
You’ve prepped your whole life
Learned how to make fire

It’s hard to feel like the hero of your own story
When life is decided by a twenty sided die
But just like my brother, mother, and father before me
I’m going to try.
