2022 Playwriting Every Day in November 19: Frogs

Prompt: Frogs

[Women of Egypt by the river. IMI and KEMSIT speak in hushed tones.]

IMI
All I’m saying is if we let the Israelites go, will life really be that different for us? I mean, in a negative way. Obviously if the plagues stop that would be ideal.

KEMSIT
I am still trying to get the blood out of the washing from when the river instantly turned to blood.

IMI
And I had just gotten what I thought was the last frog out of my kitchen when the flies came down. Nothing multiples frogs like flies.

KEMSIT
But it is admitting in the validity in their god to let them go.

IMI
They clearly have someone on their side. I’m not going to turn to their one god religion. Makes no sense to me to put all your eggs in one preverbal god basket, but some being of some kind clearly wants them set free, and we have enough tombs for our leaders to least until the end of time. And who knows what this malevolent power will bring upon our people next.

KEMSIT
I did hear that the livestock on the edge of the city are falling ill.

IMI
And I heard that farmers in the east are developing boils all over their body. It’s frankly a miracle no one has died! Whomever is on Moses’ side, Pharaoh is playing with fire denying them their wish.
