It’s that time of year again where I get back in the habit of writing every day thanks to Threshold Theater in Minneapolis! I will strive to link to their prompts, but I will not hold myself to the prompts as my personal goal this year is to write a cohesive play! (or at least most of one)
Day One Prompt: Still More Assorted Dialogue
My totally unrelated writing:
INTRO
[Loud applause as lights come up on the stage, revealing a glowing VI, soaking up the adoration of her fans.]
VI
Thank you! Thank you so much! I am so incredibly lucky to be on this stage sharing my music with you! It’s been a long road and whether you been with me from the beginning or this is your first time hearing my music, I am grateful to each and every one of you for being here tonight. I feel the love and I hope you do too!
[gestures to guitarist - SEBESTIAN (BASH) - who comes forward to share the light]
I feel like this crowd deserves something special, Bash, what do you think?
BASH
I don’t know, Vi, do you think they can handle it?
VI
[to audience]
He thinks you can’t handle it, what do you think?
[cheers grow]
You think so?
[to BASH, still in mic, because this is, in fact, a bit]
Sounds like they think they can handle it.
BASH
Well it’s your call, boss.
VI
Okay, okay. So I have been working on something new, would y’all be interested in that?
[near deafening cheers]
Alright! Bash, you know what to do!
[a count in and then VI sings:]
The cemetery in your backyard
doesn’t have as many ghosts as me
You say your scared of something new
I’m only scared of it ending.
[Lights and sounds cut.]
