INTERVIEWER
So, Vi, you’ve made quite a splash this past week with an announcement not so veiled in your most recent single.
VI
[Feigning confusion]
What announcement is that? Kidding of course. Although, it is a little baffling that my sexuality would be front page news in this day in age. I mean, is the president taking time away from being a senile war criminal and I wasn’t aware?
INTERVIEWER
Trying to make more headlines with your political views now?
VI
If anyone was wondering about my political views, they hadn’t listened to my music closely. I’ve never hidden how I feel about the stripping away of human rights at home or abroad.
INTERVIEWER
But you did hide your romantic feelings for women from your fans. Seems a bit hypocritical, don’t you think?
VI
I would argue it aligns with my belief that everyone also has a right to privacy.
INTERVIEWER
Privacy is one thing, but lying is another.
VI
When have I lied to anyone?
INTERVIEWER
Your past songs, the love interest has been…?
VI
No specific gender. And even if they were, me being in love with a woman doesn’t mean I’ve never loved a man.
INTERVIEWER
So you’re bisexual?
VI
Sure.
INTERVIEWER
Are you, or not?
VI
I’ve never felt the need to put a label on it, honestly. I know that’s a little cliche for someone from my generation, but it’s true. I like who I like, I love who I love, and I’m not going to hide it for anyone or anything any longer.
INTERVIEWER
I’m sorry, I’m confused.
VI
It’s okay. I’m sure some of your audience got the drift. Now, would you like to talk about my upcoming album or do you want to continue asking me about who I would go to bed with? I suppose the answer might surprise you.
