In the past, social media wasn’t a pressure you had to contend with, but a small cut on your finger could cost you your life.

When I was a kid, going to college was out of reach for almost everyone, but if you worked a blue collar job you could get a house big enough for you and your family.

If I was raped, I would have either have the baby or find a back door abortionist. If I knew the rapist, I would have had to marry him regardless.
MARCIA
Everyday items were so much more affordable.
FIONA
Everyday right weren’t given to a large percentage of the population.
MARCIA
Not that that’s changed much.
FIONA
In some ways it’s gotten worse.
MARCIA
Everything, every time has good and bad. Some times we get two steps forward, sometimes we are pushed back.
FIONA
But what I wouldn’t give, no matter the consequence, to jump forward to a time where I could do more than make you “comfortable.”
MARCIA
Infant mortality rate was so, so high.
FIONA
I would trade almost anything to live in a time when there was a cure for what ails you.
MARCIA
But Oreos are nothing compared to Hydrox.
FIONA
All the money, all the time in the world. What is it with the ones you love? What is it without the ones you care about being made and kept whole. I wish I could keep you whole. I wish you could be kept whole.
MARCIA
I love wearing pants. When I was kid, did you know women couldn’t wear pants? They don’t make clothes like they used to.
