It’s that time of year again where I get back in the habit of writing every day thanks to Threshold Theater in Minneapolis!
Answer to “How are you doing?” a la The Princess Bride:
Now where were we?
Oh, yes. The pit of despair!
Looking for a way to not feel so hopeless? I’m going to be posting mutual aid and nonprofits organizations that also won’t have anything to do with my writing!
Today’s nonprofit is ThinkSelf. ThinkSelf’s mission is to offer resources, education & support to Minnesota Deaf, DeafBlind and Hard of Hearing adults seeking full access to options for learning, safety, justice, employment skills, and community.
I will continue these highlights throughout the month of November so if you have an organization you’d like a shout out, let me know!
Threshold Prompt:
Day 21 - Lamp Posts, Crows and Colors
And now for my completely unrelated writing:
VI
Once my dad recovered, or, well, once we were pretty sure he would recover, he was in physical therapy and was still having a hard time with fine motor skills, I could see that Lowtown was way more patient and considerate than other labels would have been. They were still reaching out “no pressure, but we’d like to chat,” that sort of thing. Where I thinking a bigger company would have cut their losses without reaching out again.
INTERVIEWER
And that’s when you decided to move forward with them?
VI
That’s when I sat down with the people who were most important to me to talk about the decision. And the rest is history.
INTERVIEW
Looking back, do you have any regrets about your decision?
VI
It’s hard to say regret because of all the fans and friends and to be honest, money, this decision has brought me, but are there parts I might do differently knowing what I do now? I think hindsight is 20/20 for everyone.
INTERVIEW
And what are some of the things you would have wanted to do differently?
VI
There are relationships that I didn’t take care with the way I should have. And I think having a more experienced lawyer look over the contract would’ve been smart too. Some things that my current legal team has found that I wish I’d found earlier.
