It’s that time of year again where I get back in the habit of writing every day thanks to Threshold Theater in Minneapolis!
Answer to “How are you doing?” a la The Princess Bride:
Now where were we?
Oh, yes. The pit of despair!
Looking for a way to not feel so hopeless? I’m going to be posting mutual aid and nonprofits organizations that also won’t have anything to do with my writing!
Today’s non-profit is Unicorn Riot. Unicorn Riot is a decentralized, educational non-profit media organization. Unicorn Riot reports underrepresented stories and sheds light on alternative perspectives and systems. We aim to provide an accessible platform for diverse stories, communities and media makers through free, nonprofit news.
I will continue these highlights throughout the month of November so if you have an organization you’d like a shout out, let me know!
Threshold Prompt:
Day 18: The End is the Beginning
And now for my completely unrelated writing:
OLA
I’m not asking you to go into the closet!
THEA
If you don’t, your label will. Or they’ll tell me to stay away from you, or they’ll have me play your token gay friend and I could do that, for a while, but we could never be in a relationship after that - they’ll say I turned you gay.
OLA
Who would say that?
THEA
The royal they. I don’t blame you, Ola. This is your dream and they are also offering you life-changing money, but just because I don’t blame you doesn’t mean I can stand by your side as you live a half true life.
OLA
But…
THEA
Please don’t make me ask again.
OLA
Okay. You’re right, I’m sorry. I’ll give you space. I really loved our life together.
THEA
Me too.
[focuses on packing her things to keep from crying]
I should be able to get most of my stuff packed in an hour or so. Grace is going to drive over and we’ll be able to fit most of it in her truck in one go. So if you give me until 9, that should be safe.
OLA
Okay.
THEA
I can give Bash the key. He’s going to be responsible for your spare, right?
OLA
Yea.
THEA
Goodbye, Ola.
OLA
Goodbye, Thea.
